Concept and purpose
Review the proposed industry theme, audience need and commercial rationale. Clarify what the programme offers participants and why they would commit time or budget.
CEMS provides focused consulting for organisations developing, reviewing or repositioning an exhibition, conference or trade programme. We help turn an initial idea into a practical brief and assess how the event proposition, audience, commercial model and delivery plan fit together.

Consulting begins with the decisions you need to make. The assignment can examine a new sector platform, an existing programme, a national participation initiative or a defined commercial challenge, with findings and recommendations scoped to the brief.
Review the proposed industry theme, audience need and commercial rationale. Clarify what the programme offers participants and why they would commit time or budget.
Assess the intended programme identity, participation proposition and relationship with other industry activity. Identify the specific audience and use case the event should serve.
Review participation formats, sponsor opportunities, pricing assumptions and revenue drivers against the proposed scope. Separate working assumptions from confirmed commitments.
Explore relevant company groups, institutional routes and national participation models. Define a realistic international brief without assuming agency endorsement or country participation.
Consider the relationship between exhibition space, conference content, visitor engagement and operational capacity. Identify dependencies that affect readiness or delivery.
Develop priorities, milestones, responsibilities and a decision timetable. Address the information or resources needed before the organisation makes major commitments.
Examine the acquisition process, proposition, proposal stages and booking handover. Identify practical improvements that can be owned and implemented by the project team.
Provide an agreed output such as a concept brief, review report, programme framework or action plan. Any further implementation support is scoped separately.
Define the sector, audience, commercial objectives, timeline and responsibilities.
Develop the programme, deliverables, resourcing, milestones and commercial terms.
Track progress against the agreed plan and address operational or commercial issues with appointed focal points.
Assess the agreed measures, capture outstanding actions and plan the next stage.
Describe the programme, challenge, decisions required, timeline and the organisation responsible for approval.
Existing proposals, event information, audience definitions, commercial assumptions, available performance data and delivery constraints.
Agree the questions to answer, review scope, deliverables, review meetings and responsibilities for implementing recommendations.
A focused assignment can be discussed alongside a broader programme. The proposal should identify exactly which activities CEMS will deliver and which remain with the client or other appointed providers.
A written proposal sets out the scope, milestones, commercial terms, responsibilities and any separately priced services. Availability and delivery commitments are confirmed for the individual assignment.
Agree practical measures before work begins. Distinguish activity completed, responses received, confirmed participation and commercial outcomes so progress can be reviewed accurately.
